Earlier this year I visited Disney’s Magic Kingdom for the first time in probably about 20 or so years. And guess what…there’s lots of music, & even some harps!
If you’re a harp teacher with students visiting the theme park, why not give them a little scavenger hunt for a fun homework assignment?

“it’s a small world”
I haven’t seen this one first-hand (except probably when I was little), but there are at least three harps or harp-related instruments on this ride.
Thanks to one of my students for noticing one of them & having me alerted! And thanks to another student for finding three & allowing me to use these pictures!
Under the Sea
I really enjoyed this voyage through the sea in a clam shell. To make it even better, keep your eyes out for the Carpe with a Harp!
Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Before the 3D experience even begins, you can spot a harp on the frame (is that what it’s called?) around the stage! You should be able to spot it in one of the pictures in the link.
Then once the show starts, there are harps during the show. Also be ready for a little extra fun, like some light sprays of water…not harp-related per se, but still cool.
Honorable Mentions
There’s music all around Walt Disney World. Here are 3 other non-harp, but music-related, things I recommend you check out while at the Magic Kingdom:
- The pianist outside Casey’s Corner
- Country Bear Jamboree
- President Nixon’s violin on display in lobby of The Hall of Presidents
So, do you think I should head back & conduct more in-depth research of harps at Disney World or other attractions? Let me know in the comments!
In the meantime, check out the Fischarper interview with Elizabeth Louise, harpist at Disney’s Victoria & Albert’s, and watch this week’s video of the theme from “Beauty & the Beast.”
