Welcome to another DIY/upcycling project from the music store trash!
Continue below the break for a stop-motion video & written directions for this jack-o-lantern paperclip!
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Insert the pushpin in the back of the clarinet pad, making a handle for when you dip it into the water
2. Pour nail polish into the water, alternating colors. Swirl with a tongue depressor, toothpick, or something similar.
3. Dip the clarinet pad into the swirled polish, holding it by the pushpin “handle” you made. The pushpin might get painted too. You might need/want to dip it more than once.
4. Allow to dry. Once dry, remove the pushpin.
5. Cut small jack-o-lantern pieces out of the electrical tape & stick to the painted clarinet pad.
6. Attach the paperclip to the back of the clarinet pad with strong glue.
7. Once dried, use it to hold papers or as a bookmark! (Be careful though, as it could rip book pages.)
If you get fingerprints in the polish by touching it while it’s still wet, you can try licking your finger & smoothing out the print. You could also try adding a coat of clear nail polish or spray clear coat before adding the paperclip. You could also try these as earrings or a pushpin! If you try this, I’d love to see it on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or in the comments below!
