Want a fun DIY gift for your favorite tea-loving harpist (perhaps Christy-Lyn?)? How about some harp tea bags?
SUPPLIES:
coffee filter
thread (& matching bobbins)
scissors
loose leaf tea
sewing machine

loose leaf tea
sewing machine
Fold over a piece of sewing thread over to be the string on your tea bag. Knot each end.
Cut out a harp shape from your coffee filter. Be sure to cut through both layers.
Add the desired amount of loose leaf tea between the layers. Try to focus it in the middle to avoid fallout.
Sandwich the string you made in step 1 between the layers. You might want to use bobby pins to hold the filters together.
Sew around the perimeter of the harp shape, using your desired thread color. Make sure to catch the string as you sew.
Hand knot the ends.
After you’ve outlined the harp, try to get the tea leaves dispersed evenly in the tea bag.
Add strings by sewing straight lines. You can use one color, or mimic the colors of actual harp strings.
Attach a tag to the end of the string.
Display & give as a gift or enjoy for yourself!
For a quicker version, you can place the column side of harp shape on a fold & just sew around the rest of the harp. There’s an example of this in the picture above & the picture with the tea leaves.
I used a contrasting bobbin color (because that’s what was in the machine…ha!), but you can use a matching or contrasting one. It’s up to you!
Don’t forget to read Christy-Lyn’s tips for making a great cup of tea (& the rest of the interview too)!
Who would you make these for? If you try them, show me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or in the comments below!
