Self-quarantining or just trying to stay in more with the coronavirus threat? Here’s a list of things to keep you (somewhat) musically occupied.

I think this post was kind of inspired by several things. Harp Column posted on their IG Stories about COVID-19. I haven’t explored them yet at the time of writing this, but Lucy Griffiths has 2 videos talking about coronavirus & your biz (here & here), & Harp Column’s website has an article called “Navigating COVID-19 as a Harpist.”
Now, onto the list!
Work on Your Biz
- Been thinking about starting a blog? Use this time to dive in! Check out 5 Tips for Starting a Blog.
- Fall down the rabbit hole of blog posts by perusing the Biz & For Teachers categories on Fischarper.
- Plan out your month or year (in pencil of course!). Or draft up some lesson plans.
- Just because you’re staying in doesn’t mean you can’t still teach. Try out cyber lessons!
Watch Videos (yes, really)
- Binge watch my YouTube videos (shameless plug). While you’re there, I’d love for you to subscribe!
- Catch up on some harp & music in TV & Movies with the “At the Movies” blog series.
- Want to see more harp videos? Sometimes they’re shared on Harp Fix.
- Have you found more harp on the screen? You can submit ideas for “At the Movies” here.
Restring Your Harp (no thanks)
- Check out this roundup of String Changing Resources.
- Save your old strings for crafts!
Practice
- Spend some quality time with your metronome (some tips are here & here).
- Don’t want to practice?
Craft
- Try a DIY Bridge Letter/Napkin Holder.
- Make a harp scratching pad from some old cardboard.
- Harp-ify a t-shirt.
Learn
- Learn about fellow musicians by reading their interviews in the “5 Questions with…” series. Then be sure to go introduce yourself via social media!
- Check out my free ecourse, Breezing Through Bass Clef.
- Want to learn more about the harp? There’s a playlist for that!
- Listen to some podcasts. You can learn all kinds of things. Did you know I was a guest on the 3 Song Stories podcast (episode 89)? And I’m super-excited that I was mentioned on the Year 2 Review episode (there is a bit of language in this episode)!
- Want some ideas for teaching youngsters? My mom wrote a book – Making Harp Lessons Exciting For Young Children – on that!
Shop
Do this one with caution! 🙂
- Visit the Fischarper Teachers Pay Teachers store (there are freebies too!).
- Looking for sheet music? Browse the Fischarper arrangements for sale through Sheet Music Plus*. Just search “fischarper.”
