Reflections on Harp Column’s #30DayPracticeChallenge

I recently completed Harp Column’s #30DayPracticeChallenge. I’m so glad I took on this challenge! Here are a few thoughts/reflections after completing it…

  • Just 20 minutes of practice a day is very beneficial
  • Posting to social media seems to be a good motivator for me
  • It’s a great networking opportunity (hashtags & I even got to play in the Harp Column’s Facebook group!)
  • I didn’t strictly follow the Harp Column’s guidelines (one focus piece & daily goals for practice)
  • I did have a focus piece (“Dream A Little Dream of Me”), but I practiced other things, & there was at least one day that I don’t think I practiced my main piece
  • One day, I counted a gig as practice & another day I think I counted recording videos as practice (not even 100% sure it was 20 minutes….might’ve been less, might’ve been more)
  • It’s possible to practice everyday (should I be admitting that I don’t practice everyday?)
I got a cold & was a total wimp, so I took some days off between day 29 & day 30. Since completing it, I’ve kind of fallen off the band wagon, but should get back to daily practice (if only for the Instagram posts…haha)!
